Lessard - Collins Family Ancestors

Below is a reverse genealogical tree of my mother's, father's parents, Dona J. Lessard and Isa May Collins from their generation and back. I am in the process of replacing my original 2010 research that was mainly based on the speculation of others used in their own trees online with a tree that can be verified with historical records. These include state birth, death and marriage records, US Census records, cemetery records and local directories. I have also referred to published texts were cited. The main tree includes generations 1-6, where the numbers correspond to the number of "greats" of my great-grandparents. Generation 6 is numbered 6.01 through 6.64 and continued below the main tree in their respective sections. The portion in blue has been fully revised, but the portion in red should be used with caution.

Lessard - Rivard Section

Dona J. Lessard's parents were Onésime Lessard and Léonie Rivard. The ancestors of Onéime Lessard generally arrived in Quebec from France during the 17th century, where they were early settlers in the Île d'Orléans and Quebec City, Quebec and their suburbs. During the 18th century and the first half of the 19th century, various branches of the family moved west to places like Deschambault, Champlain and Batiscan, Quebec until they eventually converged in the region around Louiseville and Yamachiche, Quebec, Canada. Charles Lesssard (1843-1911) and Adéline Martin (1843-1898) were married on 27 Jun 1864 in St Severe de Maskinonge, Quebec, Canada and raised their family in Saint-Élie-de-Caxton, Quebec, Canada. Both of these towns are just north of Yamachiche, Quebec, Canada. Their son Onésime "Louis" M. Lessard (1871-1955) was my great-great grandfather. He immigrated to the USA in approximately 1889 where he married Léonie M. Rivard (1871-1952) on 2 Jun 1890 in Manchster, New Hampshire, USA. Their oldest son, Dona(Dana) J. Lessard (1892-1971) was my great-grandfather. He was born in Auburn, New Hampshire, USA on 3 Jul 1892 and married Isa May Collins (1891-1963) on 23 May 1915 in Raymond, NH, USA. She was born in Danville, New Hampshire, USA on 26 Oct 1891. They had eight children.

The ancestors of Léonie Rivard generally arrived in Quebec from France during the 17th century, where they were early settlers in Trois-Rivieres, Batiscan and Champlain, Quebec. Many of them moved to Yamachiche, Quebec, during the 18th and 19th centuries. Jean Rivard (1822-1904) and Adeline-Delima Gelinas (abt 1826-1899) were married 8 Jul 1846 and raised their family in Kingsey, Quebec, Canada before moving to Manchester, New Hampshire, USA in approximately 1875. Their youngest daughter, Léonie M. Rivard (1871-1952) was my great-great grandmother.

Collins-Webster Section

Isa May Collins' parents were Oren Eugene Collins and Flora Mary Webster. With few exceptions, Isa's Ancestors arrived in Amesbury, Salisbury, or Haverhill, MA or Hampton, NH from England in the early to middle 1600's. Several branches moved to Kingston, NH by around 1750. By 1800, they were converging on Hawke, NH, which later became Danville, NH. Overall, these families' net migration following their initial arrival in New England was less than 20 miles during approximately 350 years.

of God that have kept mee hitherto) I am ye servant of Jesus Christ and I have

(from "Records of Salem Witchcraft" above). Despite a defence from her husband of 55
years, from pastor James Allen and in a petition signed by 116 others, she was
convicted of witchcraft on the basis of the nonsensical evidence, but she not hanged
due to her age and position in the community. She spent about six months in prison.
